  • Condition: Totally untouched original condition. Found in an attic in the Scottish borders. Hilt has taken a knock and has come apart, original grip missing top. An easy project to put the hilt together tight. A very nice Napoleonic period sword. Rust patination / discolouration to blade. Housed in original steel scabbard. Some period battle damage to blade (pictured). Steel scabbard missing one eyelet for suspension loop. A lovely period sword. Please see photographs.

    Description

    A very nice example of an original British Officers 1796P type hilted flank officers sword of the Peninsula War era, c.1786-1805.
    A lovely Officers private purchase fighting sword, made by ''B. JONES'' (engraved on tang of blade).
    The Officer at the time has removed the langet facing his belt as is common with these swords.
    A good, easy and rewarding project for the collector of Good quality Napoleonic period swords.
    Scimitar style fighting blade.
    Overall measures approx. 78cm. Blade length approx. 66cm.
