Up for auction:
this excellent pistol size powder flask made by the Dixon & Sons factories from Sheffield.
The pattern has been called "ball" by the makers.
The 1953 Powder Flask book shows flasks of this type in the Panel chapter.
The charger can be unscrewed and has a common spring.
Nozzle has a 3-step graduated (unmarked) scale.
The makers name has been stamped:
DIXON & SONS
Total length nozzle included is 140 mm (5.5 Inches) - width "at the swell" is 55 mm (2.17 Inches).
Condition: EXCELLENT! Body has 90% original laquered finish.
One minor dent to the bottom. Seams are OK!
The charger is complete and has a very strong, fire blued, spring.
Much gilded / laquered finish to collar and nozzle.
A very collectable high quality powder flask!
