Description

Original French Model 1833 Cutlass Sword measuring 32.5" overall with a blade length of 26.5". Blade shows a silver gray age patina, blade edge is excellent with no chips/nicks. Both sides of blade shows an Navy Ship Anchor just above the ricasso area. Two cartouches on one side of ricasso base of blade. Cup and guard are in very good condition as is the handle, showing a dark age patina, sword has no looseness and does not wiggle. Top of blade (spine marked) "CHATELLERAULT 1843" with additional markings. Comes with the original scabbard the neck brass piece is missing the lip piece, has the frog stud with a small piece of leather still attached to it. The leather shows "tiger stripes" cracks throughout. The Brass metal end up front is missing. An original beautiful piece.
