    Description

This is a C. R. Kirschbaum of Solingen, Germany, made sword, manufactured in the typical style of the 1830s through 1840s, very similar to the American Starr Dragoon sabre, or British officer's swords of that period, with folding side guard.
I've put on the end of the pictures a double one showing a American officer's sword of the Mexican War of 1846 made by Kirschbaum, you can see the similarities.
Most US swords had Solingen made blades, but this sword could easily have been used in the Mexican War by either side [I've seen a Kirschbaum sword with the Mexican eagle on the guard], and later in the US Civil War.
There is no scabbard with this.
