    Description

This is a brass guard "a clavier" or down-turned guard, and a separate crossguard/ knuckle bow combination from French Napoleonic or Republican swords. They retain their bright gilt, for the most part. I suspect that the garde a clavier is Directory period. The pieces do not necessarily belong together, but they are sufficiently similar in style and age that I decoded to sell them together. I am quite certain that they are French, and of the Napoleonic or 1st Republic era. The "clavier" is 3 1/8 inches wide. The guard is 4 1/4 inches wide, and 4 3/8 inches tall. The holes for the tang are about 3/8 of an inch square.
If things are not as I describe them to be, you may return them for a full refund, including postage.
Please note: We will ship the sword as carefully and inexpensively as we can. If we charge you over what it actually costs us, then we will issue you a refund for the difference.
