EARLY 19TH CENTURY/WAR OF 1812 PERIOD RUNDLET, PRICED TO SELL!!
About a year ago I bought at auction a grouping of antique items: powder horns, rundlets, etc. that had both civilian and military application.  This rundlet was part of that group.  There are a number of markings on the horn: a script "A" on one end, initials "EB" on the other end, pinwheels, a fish.
What is unfortunate, is that a prior owner over-coated the rundlet.  That places the rundlet at a Very Good condition evaluation.  If this had not been over-coated, as structurally it is quite sound, it would be at least a FINE condition grading.  I have priced this accordingly. The marking "2186" is probably a collection inventory number by a prior owner.
In terms of civilian use, a rundlet could be used for farmers, hunters, etc.  At the same time, a rundlet could be a soldier's accouterment especially militia soldiers who often had to provide their own firearms and accouterments: canteen, rundlet, powder horn, etc.  The fact that this rundlet has markings on both ends may reinforce the notion of military vs. civilian use.  A civilian would not need to mark their personal items, while a soldier in a campground would often mark his possessions to make sure ownership is clear.
30 day return guarantee as long as the rundlet is returned in the same condition as sent.  Mailing cost includes insurance and is based on domestic mailing; international mailing cost is based on destination and is through Ebay's International Shipping program.
This will make a nice addition to several types of collections: early Americana; a militaria collection of soldier accouterments as a possible soldier's rundlet; and a collection of rundlets in general.  Priced to sell!  Given the coating described above, this early 19th century rundlet that is in otherwise very nice condition with nice engravings of pinwheels and fish, would be listed at an opening bid price of 0+ rather than the opening bid price of I offer.
