    Description

    Original U.S. Musket Model 1816 Socket Bayonet, overall excellent condition considering age, shows much original finish, socket shows some scattered tiny pitting, along with a bit below the U.S. markings on the ricasso area of blade. Fluted blade approx. 9" from the point end.  16" blade with 3" socket length and inside diameter of socket, .845".  Nice T cut mortise.  The M1816 model started the standardization of arms in the U.S. Army.  A beautiful example.   See photos for further details, clarification, and condition.
