    Description

    This original interesting piece of history is approximately 7-3/4" x 5-1/2" in size.  It describes a release and honorable discharge of a soldier in the New York militia by Brigadier General H.L. Bradley in 1844.  A transcription of the document is approximately as follows:
    "State of New York Brigade ____"  . . . "This April 27, 1844" . . ."Brig. Gen. H.L. Bradley has accepted the resignation of ___ Jeremiah Pierce of the 14 Regiment 13 Brigade 13 Division of the militia of this state is is hereby at his own request honorably discharged from that said office"
